Valentine’s Day Pinup look video tutorial!

I loved filming this very first tutorial! After many patient requests, I finally got off my lazy butt and gave you what you’ve been asking for. The first time is always the hardest, so now that I have the first one behind me, I’m sure there will be more tutorials and review videos to come. Thanks for your patience, especially those of you who have been asking for a video since the launch of Beauty Beginner. I don’t have professional lighting or a professional camera, but I’m happy to start taking requests. Let me know in the comments what you’d like to see next!

As for this particular look, a pinup or retro look is classic and easy to do, especially for a date on Valentine’s Day (whether it be your first date or your fiftieth date)! The basic components of this look are: flawless skin, pink cheeks, great brows, heavy lashes, winged eyeliner, and, of course… red lips. You can amp up or tone down this look as much as it suits you – you can really play up the liner and lashes, or you can tone it down with a matte red lip or even just red gloss.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals 500 Thread Count all over the lid, from lash to brow
  • bareMinerals Rowdy in the crease and very lightly under the middle lower lashes
  • tarte emphasEYES gel liner in Brown along upper lashes and upper waterline
  • tarte Gifted mascara
  • LORAC Multiplex 3d mascara

On the lips:

  • Jordana Plush Plum lip liner
  • Sleek MakeUp Pout Paint in Pinup
  • Buxom Iris lipgloss

On the face:

  • Missha Cho Bo Yang bb cream in Light Beige
  • Amazing Cosmetics concealer in Fair
  • Laura Geller Balance n Brighten in Porcelain
  • bareMinerals Pink Petal blush
  • Make Up For Ever HD microfinish powder

bareMinerals Year of Beauty: August, September & December

I’m so excited to work my way through the Bare Escentuals Year of Beauty kit, that I’ve been using 3 new colors a day. The colors I used today are probably not the best matched from the bunch, but I’m still getting used to them! All three colors that I used today (August,¬† a bronze shade; September, a brownish olive; and December, a white base with cool-toned glitter) are gorgeous in their own right, but December would be better paired with a dark purple or grey instead of these other warm-toned shades.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals original Prime Time eye primer
  • December swept over inner 1/2 of lid
  • September in outer corner and blended under lower lashes
  • August in center of lid, and lightly swept between crease and brow
  • bareMinerals Big & Bright eyeliner in Bronze
  • Mally Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet

On the face:

  • boscia bb cream
  • Smashbox Halo in Fair
  • Amazing Cosmetics concealer
  • bareMinerals Love Radiance as a blush

NYX Dark Purple

On the eyes:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • NYX “Lake Moss” shadow trio – dark purple shade all over lid
  • Profusion Colour Me Now Cosmetics – Rosy gold color on inner corner and above crease to blend out the purple, and shimmery gold¬† under brow and under lower lashes
  • Mally Volumizing Mascara

On the lips:

  • Laura Geller Mixed Berry lipstick
  • Josie Maran Precious lipgloss

On the face:

  • boscia bb cream
  • Laura Geller Balance n Brighten in Porcelain
  • Laura Geller Sateen Subtle Berry blush
  • bareMinerals original mineral veil

bareMinerals Year of Beauty: November, June & July

I’ve used 6 of the 12 eyeshadows from the Bare Escentuals Year of Beauty kit, and I gotta say, I’m nuts about them. Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten away from using the loose minerals due to laziness (all the little pots drive me bonkers!) and curiosity about other brands, but it seems like these particular shadows are simply amazing – the colors, the blendability, and the pigmentation of each shade. I think my favorite so far is January, from yesterday’s LOTD, but November is running a close second. I literally sighed out loud when I first put it on my lid this morning.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals original Prime Time eye primer
  • November all over the lid, from lash to brow, and under the middle of the lower lashline
  • June blending out November and blending up towards brow
  • July drylined along upper lashline and outer 1/3 of lower lashline
  • bareMinerals Metallic liner in Orbit, in a thin line above July
  • Mally Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • Laura Geller Mixed Berry lipstick, patted on gently
  • Aveda lipglaze in Pink Lotus

On the face:

  • boscia bb cream
  • Smashbox Halo in Fair
  • bareMinerals Warmth to contour
  • Laura Geller Blush n Brighten in Sateen subtle Berry
  • bareMinerals original mineral veil

bareMinerals Year of Beauty: January, February, & October

Wow! I just opened up the Year of Beauty from Bare Escentuals. I am so relieved that I didn’t pounce on this when it first came out in stores before the holidays for $72. I wanted it, and I wanted it BAD, but I wasn’t willing to spend that kind of money on myself during the holidays. Well, in the last two months, I’ve watched the price of YOB drop, week after week. I finally caved when it got to half the price that it had been originally, and I’m thrilled that I got it at that price.

The colors are phenomenal. I asked my husband to pick two months, and he picked January and February, so I used those two as the main colors, with October to add a little dimension. As BE loose minerals almost always are, they were really easy to work with and blend. These colors are so soft and pretty, and I can’t wait to keep working with them!

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals original Prime Time eye primer
  • January all over lid, from lash to crease
  • October in outer corner and blended
  • February above crease, blended up toward brow, and in inner corner
  • Mix of October and January under lower lashes
  • L’Oreal Pencil Perfect in Ebony along upper lashline
  • Mally Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • tarte Lipsurgence in Swanky

On the face:

  • boscia bb cream
  • Smashbox Halo in Fair
  • Laura Geller blush in Sateen Subtle Berry
  • bareMinerals Warmth for countour
