bareMinerals: The Showstopper

Bravo and Encore are two showstopping shades in the bareMinerals Ready duo “The Showstopper.” Bravo is a pale periwinkle frosted blue, and Encore is a medium purple that seems to lean on the cooler side, but when blended out it gets a little warmer. I just loved these shades together, bringing the “WOW!” factor but still keeping it wearable with a neutral lip and cheek.

On the eyes:

  • tarte Lifted eye primer
  • bareMinerals Ready 2.0: The Showstopper – Bravo on inner 3/4 of lid from lash to crease, bringing it around inner corner. Encore on outer 1/4 of lid and blended into crease, then swept under lower lashes
  • Sephora brand black eyeliner
  • Mally volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • tarte Lipsurgence in Glitzy

On the face:

  • Missha Cho Bo Yang bb cream in Light Beige
  • bareMinerals Warmth
  • tarte blush in Tipsy

bareMinerals: Bare Luxury #2 (The Muse)

This is my second time wearing the bareMinerals Bare Luxury: the Inspiration, and I have to say that this Ready duo with Muse and Passion are some of my favorite Ready shadows so far. You know that I just love pinks and purples on my skintone, and these two shades complement each other so well.

On the eyes:

  • tarte Lifted eye primer
  • bareMinerals Ready 2.0: The Inspiration – Muse (baby pink) all over lid from lashes to above crease, Passion (plum purple) in full crease and outer corner
  • bareMinerals Round the Clock waterproof eyeliner in 5pm along upper lashline and smudged with finger under lower lashline
  • bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • Jordana lip liner in Baby Pink (If I were to do a re-do on this LOTD, I’d leave out the lipliner and just stick with the gloss)
  • bareMinerals Moxie lipgloss in Live Wire

On the face:

  • tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour foundation in Ivory
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #9

Sleek MakeUp: Lime Green & Plum

I may have a tough time wearing olive greens, but I sure love to rock a bright lime green! This was actually the look I wore this year on St. Patrick’s Day – I know, I know, I’m a month late and a dollar short, but I found this blog post hiding away and thought it was about time I showed my Irish pride!

I used the Sleek MakeUp Monaco i-Divine palette for this look, incorporating Kiwi Zest, Moors Treasure, and Midnight Garden. I also used the shade Bamboo on my inner eye area and under my brow. I think that the warm plummy brown shade of Moors Treasure tones down the bright, fun Kiwi Zest to make it a bit more wearable. I added in the Midnight Garden, a really rich indigo, as a liner, just to add a bit more zing.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals original eye primer
  • Sleek MakeUp i-Divine Monaco palette: Kiwi Zest on lid, Moors Treasure in outer corner, Midnight Garden lining outer half of upper and lower lashlines, Bamboo on inner eye and under brow
  • bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • tarte Lipsurgence in Enchanted

On the face:

  • Missha Cho Bo Yang bb cream in Light Beige
  • Laura Geller Balance n Brighten in Porcelain
  • tarte concealer in Fair
  • Ulta blush in Flush

bareMinerals: Soul Sister & Satin Ruffles

These pictures are actually from a week or two ago, but I liked the eye combo so much that I wore it again yesterday for a job interview, substituting in bareMinerals Pretty Amazing Fearless for the lip.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals Brightening Pearl eye primer (concentrating a little more under brow and on inner eyelid)
  • Satin Ruffles from lash to crease
  • Soul Sister blended in outer V and into crease
  • tarte Blackened Plum Amazonian Clay eyeliner
  • Mally Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • bareMinerals Pretty Amazing lipcolor in Vivacious
  • MAC Pinkarat lipgloss

On the face:

  • Missha Cho Bo Yang bb cream in Light Beige
  • bareMinerals original mineral veil
  • bareMinerals Warmth
  • bareMinerals Rose Pearl blush
  • CoverGirl concealer

  • LORAC Unzipped palette: Unattainable from lash to brow, Untamed in crease and outer V
  • Sephora eyeliner in Chestnut along upper lashline and smudged under lower lashline

bareMinerals: Bamboo

The bareMinerals Bamboo loose mineral eyeshadow is one of my favorite greens to wear.  It’s a lovely spring green with a bit of sheen, without being glittery. I paired it with a warm brown to add a little definition to the crease, but otherwise kept it simple with a dark brown liner.

On the eyes:

  • bareMinerals Brightening Pearl eye primer
  • bareMinerals Bamboo from lash to crease
  • bareMinerals Wearable Brown Medium blended into crease
  • bareMinerals Retro liner shadow along upper and lower lashlines
  • Mally Volumizing mascara

On the lips:

  • bareMinerals Sticky Buns lipstick
  • bareMinerals Kir Royale lipgloss

On the face:

  • tarte Amazonian Clay foundation in Ivory
  • bareMinerals blush in Floret
  • Make Up For Ever HD microfinish powder

Review: NYX Crimson Amulet Collection

I’ll be honest. I love me some Johnny Depp. When I saw this new NYX Collection that was inspired by Johnny Depp’s new movie, “Dark Shadows,” there wasn’t any question about whether or not I wanted it. I’m excited about the movie, and I’m definitely excited about this palette. It retails for $24.99 at Ulta and nyxcosmetics.com.

It has a snap closure and opens up like a book to reveal 24 eyeshadows on the left half, a middle “page” with a mirror and some ideas for different looks, and on the right side we find 4 lipsticks, 5 blushes, a highlighter, an eyeshadow primer, and a black liquid liner. Whew! That’s a whole lot of makeup for such a good price.

The eyeshadows are good quality, but not GREAT quality. I think their staying power is impressive, and it’s a really nice mixture of shades that includes sheens and mattes. I’ve tested maybe half the shadows so far, and I think the pigmentation leaves something to be desired, so it takes a couple of applications to get a good pop of color. Once you get the color on, though, it stays on.

I’ve always been a fan of NYX Cosmetics lip products – I think they’re some of the best lip products you can get for the price. Although I’m not a fan of having to use a lip brush, the lipsticks in this collection don’t disappoint in their color or wearability. I’ve never tried a NYX blush, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised! They’re all very soft and blendable, and it’s a nice mixture of shades from babydoll pink to raspberry to peach.

Overall, this collection is very travel friendly, which is a big plus for me! I think it’s a great deal for less than $25, especially if you use one of Ulta’s coupons that are always available. Now, I just have to wait patiently for the Dark Shadows movie to premiere!
