Urban Decay Junkshow, Flow & M.I.A.

This was definitely not a favorite look of mine. The colors were washed out and not blending as well as I’d like. I used colors from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette, which I normally LOVE, and I just wasn’t getting the punch of color that I usually get from this palette. I figured out that it was the brush that I used – I never get good color payoff when I use a certain Laura Geller eye brush. Now that this has happened a few times with that particular brush, it won’t be used anymore. I’d love to try this look again with a different brush, because I think it had the potential to be pretty! Instead, I just looked washed out and tired. 😦

Urban Decay: Omen, Evidence, Tainted

I knew I’d be going out to dinner to celebrate my sweet husband’s birthday later, so I wanted to create an eye look that really popped. And boy, were my eyes poppin’!  This was one of those looks that made me keep going back to the mirror to admire because it was so pretty. I used the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette, and I can’t recommend this palette enough if you like vibrant, shimmery (but not with big hunks o’ glitter) colors in a beautiful package. The color Omen is an incredibly striking iridescent purple, and is definitely the star of the show today.

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette – Neutrals and Aqua

I haven’t been giving the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette enough love since I first picked it up last month. It really is a great palette, and the shadows are easy to work with – smooth and blendable.  I almost reached for the Urban Decay Naked palette today because I was in the mood for a shimmery neutral look, but I’m glad I picked up the anniversary palette instead, so I could play around with that fantastic pop of aqua under the eyes.

I added some false lashes today just for the heck of it. I actually don’t own a full set of lashes, and just have this pack of individual lashes by Ardell. I added 3 or 4 longer lashes (each single “lash” is actually a small clump of lashes) to the outer corner of each eye. As you can tell in a couple of the pictures, I didn’t wait long enough for the Duo lash adhesive to dry clear before taking the pictures!

On the eyes:

  • UD Flow swept over lid from lashes to crease, on inner 3/4
  • UD MIA blended into and above crease
  • Mix of Ace and Midnight Rodeo blended from outer 1/3 of lid and into crease
  • Midnight 15 swept across lid from lashes to crease
  • Deep End applied under lower lashes
  • Blackout on lower waterline
  • Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof liner in Vamp along upper lashline
  • 2 coats Make Up For Ever smoky lash mascara

On the lips:

  • Stila Coconut Crush lip stain
  • BE Smile lipgloss

On the face:

  • Retro liner shadow to fill in brows slightly
  • Cho Bo Yang bb cream in Light Beige
  • Sephora brand mineral loose powder (I absolutely do not recommend this product. It became very cakey.)
  • Smashbox Blush Rush in Surge
  • Original mineral veil

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette – Junkshow, Ace, Vanilla

I forgot to take pictures of the products that I used today and was too lazy to dig the camera back out, but the eyecolors I used today were all from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette – Junkshow (fuchsia), Ace (charcoal), and Vanilla (cream). I experimented a little bit by not using an eye primer and just using concealer as a base on my eyelids. I had some major creasing by midafternoon, so that experiment didn’t work out for the best! I’m learning, especially with pressed shadows, that using a primer or base is the best way to keep shadows in place all day long.

I also used the Missha Perfect Cover bb cream again today and once again, while it doesn’t provide full coverage as a foundation, it works really great under my beloved BE foundation to create full coverage. I like this effect a lot, especially with the added benefit of the bb cream’s high spf. However, I was very aware of having this extra layer of coverage on my face, especially after ten years of using BE foundation alone or with a primer. My face felt almost… sticky. As I’m not used to wearing liquid foundation, I’m not sure if this is how liquid foundation usually feels or if it’s unique to the bb cream.

On the eyes:

  • Junkshow patted onto inner 2/3 of lid from lashes to crease using Ecotools shadow brush

  • Vanilla applied to inner corner and along browbone up to brow using Flathead shadow brush
  • Buxom lashliner in Leatherette in upper waterline and along upper lashline
  • 2 coats Buxom mascara

On the lips:

  • Jordana lipliner in Baby Berry
  • Aveda lipglaze in Pink Lotus

On the face:

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette – Tainted, Evidence, Half Truths

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and I opened up the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette hoping to find some blacks and greys to wear to match my mood. Instead, the pretty rosy pink (Tainted), navy (Evidence), and medium greyish purple (Half Truth) jumped out at me. I didn’t find what I was looking for, I found better! I also used Fairy from the tarte cosmetics True Blood palette as a brow highlight.

This is my second time wearing the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in the dark area under the inner eye. I’m really impressed with its coverage at first, but by evening, I do find it to get cakey.
